Seriously, have you ever stopped to consider the diverse landscape of people we as South Africans are faced with on a day-to-day basis? It’s crazy up in here, 160km/h bru. Being the confident, strong and damn good-looking individuals we are, we need to have an opinion, we need to have our own culture and as such, our debating skills as a country are probably better than any other.
Whilst we may be a nation of different beliefs (and moaners), there are certainly things that unite us. Moving into the festive season, we thought it would be a great idea to highlight a few of these things:
We like a good chill out – Not many countries in the world have a universal culture like ours, for everyone to flock down to the beach in December for a good blom. Sure, at the beginning of December the Capetonians moan about Joburgers invading their beaches, but after a few days this seems to be forgotten over a Mojito in Camps Bay.
We like to party – Lets not get it twisted, we like a bit of a razzle. In fact if you’ve been in Jozi for the last couple of months, you know just how hard South Africans can party, and for the next few weeks from Balito to Boksburg, from Knysna to Nelspruit, we’re going to see the culmination of a year’s worth of hard workers from around the country to get together and release some pent up energy, have a skop and probably meet the woman/man of their dreams, at least for tonight.
We like beer – According to Wikipedia, we’re the 29th biggest beer consumer (per capita) in the world. We also have one of the biggest breweries in the world. Yes, enjoying a cold one after work is a stable South African tradition, we wont even get into that frosty brewski at the braai on a hot December afternoon. We think 29th position could be improved, but then you need to stop drinking those pink drinks. Just saying.
These three solid factors are notable not only because they bring us together but also because there is one place you can go to find all three. In celebrating this time of eating jelly, braaing, drinking beer, listening to awesome tunes, dancing, swimming and getting our game on, we need to stop for a moment and consider those left in Jozi for the holiday season. You are the troupers who are quite often left to turn the wheels that drive our holiday cogs and we’ve got a place just for you.
I’m pretty sure you know where we’re going with this so all we’ll tell you is this. PUMA Social Club Jozi is open right through the holiday season just for you. We wanna keep you happy, entertained and quenched. So come and join us every Friday night right through the holiday season from 5pm till late and we’ll keep you merry.
