If you’ve been to PUMA Social Club Jozi before, you’ve probably seen the bright yellow sign that displays the After Hours mantra: “Respect The Hangover”. These words form a serious warning, a warning which some may not have heeded to the detriment of their Saturday morning. We certainly, have had times where we’ve not shown the sign the respect it deserves.
We all know that Respecting The Hangover is a clever thing to do… our mom told us, that’s why we wrote it on the wall. We all know that drinking a glass of water after each serving of the sensational craft beer on offer would be the sensible thing to do. But what happens when these good intentions fall by the wayside and we find ourselves on the dance floor after one too many? Can retrospective respect of the hangover exist? Of course it can.
Firstly - lets talk about non-negotiables – don’t drive your car. We’re not only saying this because our lawyers told us to, we’re saying this because we like you, you’re cute… we still want you around next week. Get a cab.
Secondly – When you get home – drink loads of water. Get some food in your belly. Get some sleep.
Lastly – If you do all of the above and you still wake up with a blazing hangover, try one of these tips. After exhaustive research, we’ve compiled a list of our patrons’ most heralded hangover tips. Here are some of them – use at your own risk:
The Green Ambulance (not to be confused with the green fairy) – Our scientific research has shown that the one true cure for the hangover could be the classic South African soft drink Creme Soda. This is due to the nanoparticles of hydrogen contained in the glucose realigning the neurotransmitters in your brain to produce more serotonin, effectively making you feel better.*
*This is rubbish – we think it may have something to do with the sugar and water… no one can explain the magic of the green ambulance but one thing is for sure, it tastes so gooooood on a Saturday morning.
Hair of The Dog – Another beer may seem like a good idea at the time, in fact it will probably make you better for a little while. Our experts however say, that you may just be postponing the inevitable, which is just silly. Save it for next Friday.
Coffee – Ignore that craving, coffee will just serve to further dehydrate you (this is what the booze does in the first place). As above, the short-term cure may just make your hangover worse in the long run.
Water, Sports Drinks – Replenishing the water you have lost through masochistically dehydrating yourself the night before, is probably one of the smarter things you can do. The electrolytes found in many sports drinks can also help you feel better quicker, just don’t go overboard.
Go Buy Stuff – Buy stuff at the PUMA Store in Braamfontein, this probably wont help your hangover, but it will make the time go faster, and at least you’ll score some amazing apparel love for your wardrobe.
Use this info, or don’t but remember – PUMA doesn’t support irresponsible drinking, but if things get out of hand… Hang Responsibly.
